Who masterminded a recent terrorist act in Grozny?
A recent explosion at a bus stop nearby the central market in Grozny was not accidental. In the opinion of many residents in Grozny, it was a consequence of a series of events that followed the clash between Chechen police and officers from the military commandant’s office in the Leninsky district of the city. Full Story...
The Russians should not be distressed.
Russian society is panic-stricken and in a state of anxiety. The people see no way out. One of three Russians needs psychological help. And this is only due to the fact that during the last few months Russian television has been showing horrifying news – plane accidents, blazes around Moscow, natural disasters in Europe and in Southern Russia, not even to mention minor catastrophes. Therefore, many Russians feel very uncertain about the future. Real patriots fighting for the revival of Russian economy of course grieve over Russia’s negative image among foreign investors as a result of so many Russians living in poverty. As a consequence, the government has to do something; not about the reasons of plane accidents and conflagrations which it is unable to eliminate anyway, but about the journalists who cover all these issues and frighten the people. Full Story...
Ukraine did not revolt
Fifty thousand people from provincial towns in Ukraine have taken part in demonstrations under the slogan “Arise, Ukraine”, organised by the Communist and Socialist Parties, as well as Yuliya Timoshenko’s political bloc. The aim of the event was to remove Leonid Kuchma from the presidency of Ukraine. This new bunch of red flag-waving hell-raisers is attempting to seize power. The communist Pyotr Simonenko, socialist Aleksandr Moroz and oligarch Yuliya Timoshenko not only walked at the front of the demonstrators, but also called the people to revolt. Full Story...

Mass under close watch of security agents
Pro-democracy slogans were chanted and arrests were made in processions and masses held at Catholic churches throughout Cuba on Sunday, September 8. The festivity of Our Lady of Charity, Cuba’s patroness is a day charged with patriotic meaning, since the Virgin is a symbol of national unity, antedating the Cuban flag, the national anthem and the state emblem. And above all, it is the only symbol the Communist Party could not have appropriated for themselves. Every year that day priests speak in their homilies about national problems, and every year big crowds attend these celebrations.
Dissidents and human rights activists were present at most of those events, and on every occasion they were closely watched by state security agents. Full Story...
Freedom is stronger, but totalitarianism more aggressive
Would the United States go for a military strike against Saddam Hussein’s regime? And if so, would not they have to do that alone in contrast to the 1991? Not only Russia and China but practically the whole Europe appear to speak out against using force to topple the Iraqi dictator. The European position might be summed up as “let’s wait for a while”. However, what else one might expect from Saddam Hussein after he has publicly approved the September 11 terrorist attacks against the United States, after he, also in public, has promised to pay huge sums of money to the families of Palestinian terrorists … as a reward for their killings of civilians? Full Story...
No more Russian newspapers in Turkmenistan
The Turkmen people now, apparently, have no means of acquiring or reading Russian newspapers and magazines. Even those who set up subscriptions for the second half of this year, and paid large sums of money in Turkmen manats or US dollars, will not receive their newspapers. The fact is that back in June the great leader and life-long ruler, Saparmurat Turkmenbashi, banned the import of dangerous Russian publications into the country, in order to prevent the dissemination among his people of unwholesome and libellous fabrications about himself and the reforms which he carries out almost every day of his life. Full Story...
Felix Svetov
On September 2, in Moscow, Felix Svetov died of a heart attack. Some know and will remember him as a writer, author of such books as “Russian Fortunes”, “Open Me Doors”, “Prison”. Others better understand him as a Christian scholar, a man in a constant search of God and His truth. Some probably know him better as an activist of the Soviet-era Democratic Movement. Full Story...
