Not all traitors caught in Turkmenistan yet
The Turkmen law enforcement bodies have been so far unsuccessful in their attempts to catch active army officer Begench Beknazarov accused of committing a terrorist act and attempt on the life of president Saparmurat Niyazov in late November of last year, Turkmenbashi the Great himself told to a recent session at the defense ministry. Speaking about the wanted army officer, president Niyazov reproached defense minister Redzhepbai Arazov: “If your agency followed my orders and subjected every army commander to a thorough scrutiny, checking him back to the third generation, we would not have such Beknazarovs.” Full Story...
Joint statement by yet free Cuban dissidents
Following a wave of political trials that started in Cuba on April 3, leaders of the Cuban dissident movement have issued a new joint declaration.

Court’s decision protects the FSB
On April 2nd, Moscow's Civilian Intermunicipal Court dismissed a complaint filed by Sergei Kovalev, deputy to the State Duma and renown human rights advocate, against the director of the FSB (Federal'naia Sluzhba Bezopasnosti- Federal Security Agency), Nikolai Patrushev. Patrushev last year had refused to satisfy Sergei Kovalev's deputy inquiry to provide documents concerning "exercises," which had taken place in Riazan' in the fall 1999. Full Story...
President Lukashenka reanimates the ideological front
To bring back the ideology section on all levels of government administration was the suggestion made by Belarus' president, Aleksandr Lukashenka. Cuban opposition unites
Leaders of Cuban dissident groups have issued a joint declaration in Havana in response to the current campaign of mass arrests across the country. The statement is signed by a number of people representing various points of view on the future of Cuba. The dissidents state that they are standing by the declaration of 9 March in which they called on the European Union not to conclude an agreement of economic partnership with Cuba. They oppose this proposal on the grounds that one of the conditions of the agreement was a demand for a significant shift to democracy. However, there have been no such changes on the island. Paul McCartney to perform in Moscow
On May 24th, Paul McCartney, the former Beatles member, will give a concert on Red Square in Moscow. This information was officially confirmed on March 19th by Alpha Bank, the concert's organizers. At the press conference it was very aptly announced that the "dream of three generations" of Russians had come true.
